This Kanetsune KC-842 Fixed Blade features a 101 layers damascus w/ high speed powder steel core blade with Black plywood w/red micarta ring handle.

The series name "Namishibuki" means wave splash in English. This mystical black Damascus blade reminds you of "Namishibuki" which is like rough seas that waves beating the shore or falls that the water flow powerfully. By special technique for surface treatment, it accentuates beautiful Damascus pattern and it brings about more real presence. Made with the Spirit of craftsmen who bring passion into kitchen knives.

The blade is 101 layers Damascus w/ high speed powder steel core, HRC:61±0.5. This high speed powder steel is that abrasion resistance, toughness resistance, sharpness, and hardness are extremely outstanding. The sharpness will be far beyond your imagination. This kitchen knife makes people say that this kitchen knife is one of the best sharpness which they have ever used. We realized outstanding sharpness because of sophisticated technique backed by an abundant of experience and knowledge accumulated over many years.

For this kitchen knife there are many process and many craftsmen are involved. At any process craftsman works with the desire to make excellent kitchen knives. The classy octagonal handle "八角柄 Hackaku-e" polished fascinatingly elegant. The handle end is engraved Kanetsune Seki brand logo mark "Kumadori". The handles are made of black plywood w/red micarta rings.

Kanetsune is named after a famous Japanese swordsmith who lived in the Muromachi period around the 14-15th century. This skilled craftsman made extremely sharp and durable katanas that were respected by many Samurais in Japan and overseas. Some of his swords are displayed in the Katana Museum in Seki City. Like the Kanetsune blades of old, Kanetsune knives today are made in Seki, Japan with the goal of producing high quality traditional designs that are suitable for everyday use. This is achieved by blending traditional Japanese techniques with new ideas and modern technology.

Kanetsune is a brand of Kitasho Co., Ltd., one of the most respected manufacturers of knives in Seki, Japan and established in 1964. Kanetsune continues the bladesmith legacy of Seki City with its fine cutlery.
